My Philosophy of Teaching

     Teaching in South Carolina for the past twenty seven years has given me many wonderful experiences. I have taught  a variety of subjects in both public and private schools. I am currently teaching  Math and Entrepreneurship at the Number One Public Middle School in the State!
     Learning is continually changing and demands in the classroom to differentiate and meet the needs of every student is a challenge. Finding common interests and engaging students in everyday learning is a goal I strive for daily and throughout the year.  My experience using technology has been a strength and It continues to provide me with new ways to engage my students to become leaders of the 21st Century. Students live in a technology driven society and teachers must be there to help them transition to the workplace. Through the use of technology, students can be active learners by utilizing applications such as Google APPS, Thinglinks, Google Sites, Kahoots, and QR CODES. 
   I have recently come out of my comfort zone and began learning programs for coding. I have used this in my math classes and it has given my reluctant learners a reason to love math. I hope to continue to find new and innovative ways to help students enjoy and strive to be competitors in a global society.
